Once again this was also a predicted viewers choice and certainly worth the award. The Best Actress Drama award went to Julie Christie for Away From Her. She was on the hot list of the winners by the audiences already. The award for the Best Actor Drama went to Daniel Day-Lewis for There Will be Blood. He too had been a predicted winner by many critiques in the Oscars.
The award for the Best Actress Musical/Comedy went to Marion Cotillard, La Vie En Rose. This may have surprised the audience as they were expecting Ellen Page to win for Juno. The Best Actor Musical/Comedy went to Johnny Depp for the musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. He was also a popular choice of the audience. The Best Supporting Actress went to Cate Blanchett, for I’m Not There. Again here the viewers choice had been Saroise Ronan for Atonement. The Best Supporting Actor went to Javier Bardem for his brilliant performance in No Country For Old Men. Javier was also the viewers choice for the award.
The Best Animated Film went to Ratatouille with no close competitors in both the audience choice and also as compared to the movie's graphics and story line. The Best Foreign Language Film went to The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. The Best Director to Julian Schnabel for The Diving Bell And The Butterfly, Best Screenplay to Ethan Coen, Joel Coen for No Country for Old Men, the Best Original Score to Dario Marianelli for Atonement and the Best Original Song was “Guaranteed” from Into The Wild.
